New bullion options from The Royal Mint – the home of UK coins

Sales of The Royal Mint’s products have been growing fast throughout 2012, as the world’s eyes have been on Britain.

Bullion has been a part of that trend, and for 2013, The Royal Mint has developed new specification bullion products that make both Sovereign and Britannia coins a compelling choice for the bullion coin market.

The home of the original Sovereign

The Royal Mint, home of the original Sovereign, has been producing bullion coins for centuries. The 2013 Bullion Range includes the Gold Sovereign struck from 22 carat gold and the new specification Silver Britannia and Gold Britannia – now struck from 0.999 silver and 0.9999 gold respectively.

In the UK, both the Sovereign and Britannia coins are legal tender. As a result they are Capital Gains Tax exempt in the UK. Gold bullion coins have the additional benefit of being VAT exempt in the UK.

Nick Bowkett, Bullion Manager at The Royal Mint says,

The fact that we are seeing an increasing demand for our bullion Sovereign and Britannia coins suggests the reassurance that comes from dealing with a business that has been established for over 1,000 years is extremely compelling…

Nick continues,

…we are now taking a more proactive approach to acquiring new customers through developing our bullion proposition and growing the team.  We have improved everything from our products and packaging to delivery capabilities.

Other developments include an on-site precious metal vault storage facility for bullion customers to store coins purchased from The Royal Mint. As a highly secure facility guarded by the MOD Police, it will provide a unique secure storage option.
